My research focuses on the climate of the polar regions, including the ocean, ice sheets, and sea ice. Much of my group's work is aimed at obtaining data from the under-sampled polar regions using platforms that range from icebreakers and kayaks to autonomous vehicles and using these observations to advance understanding of polar climate change and its implications for Arctic and global communities. Additional research interests include sea level rise, ice–ocean interactions, the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), systems approaches to climate and marine environments, partnerships with Arctic communities that build on Indigenous and local knowledge to support community-based monitoring, low- and no-emission approaches to ocean observing, climate and polar science communication, FAIR data, and promoting collaborative science through diverse teams.
